The Call the That Changed My Life

Yesterday, I got a call from the National Marrow Donor Program. I have been chosen to be a bone marrow donor for a five year old boy with leukemia. Wow, that hit me hard. I have done Confirmatory testing before and was never chosen. Now I have a chance to help a small boy.

I never thought when I signed up to be on the registry that I would ever be chosen. I was just donating some extra vials of blood at a blood drive. Now that I have gone through the information meeting all this information is bouncing around my head. How will I do this? How much pain will I go though? In the end I think of the little child fighting leukemia. If he can be strong enough to go through this, I think I can.

Worst Computers of All Time

PC World has named their list of the 10 Worst Computers of All Time and I have to agree with #1. Ahh, Packard Bell, how much I hate thee. You were the first computer I personally owned. Yet, you always broke down. I cursed you when you sliced my hands trying to work inside your case. The only thing I am grateful for is that I learned so much about computers tearing you apart.

It’s Cold!!

Freezing rain, sleet and ice is something you do not see often in San Antonio. When it does happen, the city shuts down. I have not seen this in a few years. People in South Texas just do not know to travel in icy weather. It has been hovering at and below freezing through out the day. One thing would make me happy with this weather, snow. Alas, not all the right conditions have not been met for snow to happen in the city. I can only hope.

Setting the SkyScan Atomic Clock and Why No Outdoor Temperature Reading?

After changing the batteries on my outside receiver for my SkyScan Atomic Clock (Model #86722), the clock would not show the outdoor temperature. This baffled me. After some searching, I found out that if you take out the batteries on the clock and put them back in, the clock and receiver will sync back together and the outdoor temperature will show again. This produced a another problem. The clock defaults by showing EST time and I lost the instructions for my clock.

By going the SkyScan website, I was able to print out instructions for my particular model. With instructions in hand, now I can change my time zone back to CST.
